Let me (briefly) introduce myself:

S.C.M. stands for Stefano Charlie Manservisi, where “S.” and “M.” stand for the initials of my personal and family name; meanwhile, “C.” stands for “Charlie”.
Charlie is the nickname that was given to me by a dear friend many years ago, when “Charlie the Lion” was the mascot of a famous Italian TV show (Domenica In). At that time, I still had all my hair on my head; there was a lot of it, it was curly, and I used to wear it long and wild so that it could remind you of a lion’s mane.
Since then, even today, many people call me more commonly by that nickname than by my proper first name. Even today, some friends don’t even know me as Stefano, but only as Charlie. And I like this so much.

Now about me:
Born in Bologna (Italy) in 1962,

Then, in 1968, my mother Annamaria and my father Gianfranco, gave me my sister Lucia.
I graduated as a surveyor in 1982, and I fulfilled my obligation to national army service in October 1982, which ended with my final discharge as a corporal.
After my military service, I started my studies in architecture at the University of Florence, where I obtained my university degree as an Architect in 1994.

Since 1996, I have been practicing as professional architect.
In 1982 got engaged with Manuela, we married in 1996 (and still we are !).

In 2005, Sofia, our beautiful daughter, was born.

In 2000, together with Manuela we founded Gruppozero:aa, which is still our design studio.

In 1976 I participated as a volunteer together with my parents in the aid sent by the Diocesan Caritas of Bologna to build 24 prefabricated wooden houses for the families hard struck by the disastrous earthquake in Friuli. After this first experience I was in Irpinia as a volunteer for the group of aid sent by the Municipality of Bologna to help the families struck by the earthquake in Irpinia in 1980.

Since 1984, when I went to Tanzania for the first time, I collaborated in various activities with the association Solidarietà e Cooperazione Senza Frontiere of which I have been designated as president since 2014.

In addition to my passion in architecture, which I still practice as a Senior Architect with Gruppozero:aa, I am in photography since I was 14 years old when I was given my first camera. Since then I have taken tens of thousands of photographs which I am still trying, with poor results, to put in order.

I have moved from analog to digital photography even if I still remember with pleasure and a bit of nostalgia the nights spent in the darkroom with some friends to print our photos.
For several years I have also been using drones for aerial shooting.

In 1984, I bought my first real motorbike (after a fifty and a Vespa): a second-hand BMW R80 G/S.

since then we have never stopped, together with Manuela, to travel around Europe by motorbike,

along the roads of Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Greece and we continue to travel even now on our current BMW R1200 GS.
